NEWS RELEASE
MUNICIPALITY OF HURON SHORES
***************************
At the special meeting of Council held April 22, 2020, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Council endorsed the deferral of penalty charges on the outstanding tax notice, for the March 31 and May 29 instalments, until Aug. 1, 2020. The due dates remain the same and in order to allow for the Municipality to continue to pay invoices and operate effectively and efficiently, it is requested that if ratepayers are in a position to meet the due dates, please do so.

Otherwise, as with many, if you are experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you may delay payment of the March 31 and May 29 instalments until July 31, without penalty. This decision will be reviewed again by Council at its May 13, 2020 meeting to address any need for a further delay.

In order to protect you and staff from the virus, we encourage that tax payments be made electronically. You may call the Municipal Office at 705-843-2033 to discuss the options available and for assistance if required. If staff is not available, please leave a message in order that we may return your call as soon as possible.

All individuals who have provided post-dated cheques or have set up pre-authorized debits (PADs) will have the option to defer those payments by contacting the Municipal Office or by e-mailing: [email protected].

Stay strong, stay compassionate, stay safe.
