This year's Christmas Cheer Depot, located in the former Walmart store at the Station Mall, will be open for donations from Nov. 16 through Dec. 16, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A notice issued today by Christmas Cheer indicates that only new items will be accepted.

The volunteer-run organization told SooToday earlier this month that, unlike previous years, it wouldn't be accepting any used items or collecting food donations from schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We hope that maybe by next year we’ll be back to our full program, but we still wanted to provide a program to our people the best we can,” said program convenor Diane Marshall at the time.

Application lines, available by calling 705-575-5770, are scheduled to open on Nov. 2 and will operate Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The deadline to apply is Friday, Dec. 4.

Christmas Cheer baskets will be delivered on Wednesday, Dec. 16.
