OTTAWA – Bill Blair says Canada will extend non-essential travel restrictions with the United States until at least Oct. 21.
The minister of public safety and emergency preparedness confirmed the details in a Twitter post made on Friday morning. The current agreement was scheduled to expire on Monday.
“We will continue to base our decisions on the best public health available to keep Canadians safe,” Blair writes.
The border between the two countries has been closed to all non-essential land traffic since March. Air travel is still permitted.
Anyone returning to Canada or entering the country must quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.
