13th case of COVID-19 confirmed in Algoma region

Algoma Public Health has reported a new confirmed case of COVID-19 in the region. This marks the 13th case of COVID-19 in the Algoma district.

The health unit says the male in his 40s was exposed due to close-contact and is currently self-isolating.

He was tested on April 22, according to APH.

Data on APH's website suggests that this case marks the 9th specifically in Sault Ste. Marie and area.

Total confirmed cases by area of residence: 

  • Nine in Sault Ste. Marie and area, with evidence of community spread
  • Less than five in central and east Algoma
  • Three in Elliot Lake and area 
  • Zero in north Algoma
