SooToday, in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society and The Animal Assistance Group, brings you a regular feature highlighting a special pet that is in need of adoption.

(TAAG)

Garfield is a handsome neutered male who is 11 years old.

He is also declawed.

Don’t let his age deter you from adoption as older cats make great companions.

What you see is what you get, no surprises.

They are fully matured in demeanor, temperament, and personality.

This can be helpful when choosing a new family pet.

Senior pets tend to be calm and laidback, and many will do well in homes with young children or first time pet owners.

They are not as high energy as a younger pet and will probably enjoy just cuddling with you.

Senior pets in shelters have years of experience being part of a family.

They were once much loved members of a family and for whatever reason, have ended up at a shelter.

ALL the lovely TAAG cats who are older than 5 years can be adopted to approved homes for the reduced rate of $50 for the month of October.

Please stop by the shelter at 189 Elgin Street between the hours of 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. to meet these wonderful cats!

Their personalities are unique and well-developed, making it much easier to choose a good match for your family.

The Animal Assistance Group (TAAG) is a non-profit registered charity that offers rescue foster and ultimately permanent adoption of homeless, unwanted, or neglected pets.

While these animals are in our care we provide medical attention, spay / neuter services and lots of love until they are placed in a permanent home.

Cats coming into our care (except young kittens or otherwise stated) have been spayed, neutered, given shots, and have been FELV tested.

Homeless cats stay with TAAG until adopted.

If you would like to adopt any of the available cats or kittens, please contact us.

Visit us at The Animal Assistance Group (TAAG) Website, where you will find information on shelter location, hours of operation, ways to help, and adoption information.
