SooToday, in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society and The Animal Assistance Group (TAAG), brings you a regular feature highlighting a special pet that is in need of adoption.

Ava

(TAAG)

Ava is still waiting for a home. She is a lovely seven year old spayed female Tortie who  was picked on by her other cat companions, causing her a lot of stress. She should be the only cat in the home.

Ava is terrific kitty but is a bit skittish from her past and being moved around so much. Ava has a sweet meow and wonderful character. She loves, loves, loves to be petted, especially to have her head, ears and neck scratched, loves to be brushed and to give you head butts of love.

Ava likes spending the day hiding under the bed or burrowed under blankets but at nightfall she'll join you for Netflixing. Once you climb into bed she'll be right there, looking for petting before heading out for a nighttime tour of the house.

As she comes to trust and feel more comfortable in a new space she will blossom. Despite her nervousness she absolutely loves attention. This sweet girl deserves a wonderful forever home.

TAAG is currently conducting virtual adoptions as much as possible. You can fill out a Preadoption Form and we are also able to Skype with adoption information. This method is restrictive as we are limited with home-checking because of the COVID 19 health crisis, therefore it will be a slower process.

One very unfortunate result of the current human viral pandemic will be the inevitable impact on the innocent lives of cats and dogs, the dumping of pets, and the explosion of unwanted kittens and homeless cats in the near future. TAAG is looking for help in anticipation of this crisis as there is a shortage of funds for upcoming emergencies.

As a non-profit animal rescue, we receive no government funding and rely on the generosity of those who wish to be stewards of abandoned animals who cannot care for themselves or to help those pets who have families in need of emergency vet care. We are unable to hold fundraisers due to restrictions.
