The Centre for Social Justice and Good Works (the ‘Centre’) is looking for a Community Development Intern to support the Centre’s projects and external marketing communications initiatives. This is a one-year contract position.

The Community Development Intern is a creative problem solver, who takes initiative and completes tasks within project timelines. Good communication and writing skills are necessary, as well as the ability to work on a team and independently. I Love To Move is a free recreation program for children, is offered in four areas of the community, will be a primary responsibility of the Intern. Partnerships are essential for successful programs and the Intern will be required to keep partners informed and records maintained.

The successful candidate will hold a degree or diploma in marketing, communications, community development or a related field.

Additional tasks include:

  • Regularly update social media, Centre website, newsletters
  • Act as a point of contact for Centre inquiries, attend community stakeholder meetings, participate in working groups
  • Recruit and organize volunteers
  • Increase the profile and awareness of the Centre within the community
  • Provide support to the Executive Director and other Centre staff

The Community Development Intern must meet the requirements of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Internship program:

  • University and college graduates who have graduated within the last three years from an accredited college or university. Candidates must be graduates of post-secondary degree or diploma programs
  • The position must provide the Intern with first time employment in their field of study
  • Candidates are only eligible to participate in the internship program one time
  • Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
