Reports To: Senior Manager, Clinical Services

Position Summary:

The RPN role in a Physician’s office includes patient care and education, consultation, and collaboration with other members of the health care team. The RPN provides nursing assessment, treatment, and patient teaching for patients within a provider’s practice. The RPN works closely with the provider to assist and provide education, support, and health care to patients and their families.

Required Qualifications:

1. Diploma from an approved Practical Nursing Program

2. Registered Practical Nurse with a valid Certificate of Registration with The College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing

The ideal candidate will possess:

1. Approved RPN courses in Medication Administration and Physical Assessment

2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a clinical setting; Medical office experience an asset

3. Current CPR certification and AED competency

4. Demonstrated ability to assist physician with treatment of patient, procedures, and follow-up care

5. Excellent physical assessment skills and is able to assist patients of all ages

6. Ability to provide an excellent patient experience evidence by good verbal and written communication skills

7. Demonstrated knowledge of current infection control standards

8. Strong knowledge and understanding of privacy and confidentiality in the workplace

9. Excellent telephone skills and proper telephone etiquette

10. Excellent critical thinking and good decision-making skills to work under pressure

11. Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and deal with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible, and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy, and alertness in public contacts
