In August of 2018, Rand Logistics, Inc. held their third annual Marine Miracle Month, a program to benefit children’s charities. “Under this program, Rand committed to donate $0.05 for every ton of cargo carried by its fleet during the month of August to non-profit organizations with a primary focus on the health, well-being and education of children across the Great Lakes region in the U.S. and Canada,” said Annemarie Dobler, Assistant Vice President and Corporate Communications of Rand Logistics, Inc.
The THRIVE Child Development Centre Foundation was named a beneficiary by Rand Logistics valued customer, Algoma Steel. As a direct result of Algoma Steel’s participation in Rand’s Marine Miracle Month, THRIVE has been presented with a cheque for $25,483.32!
Representatives from Algoma Steel, Brenda Stenta-Manager of Communications & Branding and Paulo DeMarco-Rand Logistics Liaison, on behalf of Rand Logistics Inc. visited THRIVE’s Centre on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 to experience the value of THRIVE's services.
During their time at THRIVE, they met with Physiotherapists, Jane Cuglietta and Sarah Jones, who were able to shed some light on the Mobile Medical Specialty Clinics offered at THRIVE, in partnership with Holland-Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children, in order to eliminate unnecessary travelling for THRIVE clients and their families, who are already navigating complex challenges. The funds donated by Rand Logistics, in honour of Algoma Steel, will help THRIVE to continue to provide excellent family-centred care.
“With this specific donor support of our Mobile Medical Specialty Clinics, more than 100 children and families will receive specialized care locally,” highlighted Christianne Monico, CEO – THRIVE Child Development Centre. Visiting specialists include: Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon - Dr. Andrew Howard, Pediatric Neurologist - Dr. Jeff Kobayashi and Pediatric Psychologists - Dr. Janice Hansen & Janet Quintal, M.A., C. Psych.
THRIVE, our Foundation and the children and families we service would like to extend immense gratitude to Algoma Steel, as well as to Annemarie Dobler and Rand Logistics, Inc. for this very generous donation.
