Sault Ste. Marie is currently on alert for a possible lake effect snowfall this morning and later tonight. There is the potential for accumulations up to 20 cm of snow to fall over the next 24 hours.

Public Works and Engineering Services will have snow clearing equipment deployed. Motorists are reminded to drive according to the conditions and give snow plow operators room to clear routes safely and efficiently.

Additionally, under By-law 77-200-5(14), motorists are reminded that effective November 1 parking of vehicles on city streets is not permitted during the winter months between midnight and 6 a.m.

The first snow events are challenging as road surfaces are wet and slippery. The City of Sault Ste. Marie thanks residents for their patience as the Public Works team transitions into their winter programs. Your cooperation in helping to keep our streets safe and clear this winter is appreciated. For more information, contact Public Works and Engineering Services at 705-759-5201 or email [email protected].
