Mayor Christian Provenzano, Members of City Council and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee would like to announce the 2019 Sault Ste. Marie Sports Hall of Fame Inductees.

John Greenwood – Figure Skating, Builder
  • Figure Skating Skater, Official, and Administrator for over 50 years
  • International Skating Judge & Referee in over 20 countries for 25 years
  • 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics; Judge – Pairs
  • 2006 Torino Winter Olympics; Judge – Ice Dancing
  • Officiated over 15 World Championships

Heikki Kinnunen – Cross-Country Skiing, Coach
  • Coach of the Soo Finnish Ski Team for over 2 decades
  • Served as Northern Ontario Divisional Cross Country Coach
  • Established the Youth Skill Development Cross Country Ski Program
  • Builder & Advocator of Infrastructure and Programming of Cross Country Skiing in Sault Ste. Marie

A formal ceremony to recognize this year’s Sports Hall of Fame inductees will take place on June 13, 2019 at the Civic Centre.
