On Saturday, December 1, 2018, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Paramedics will be volunteering their time to conduct their annual food drive. The 'Helping the Hungry' food drive will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m at Joe's No Frills on Korah Road as well as at Food Basics on Trunk Road. All non-perishable food items and cash donations will be collected and donated to the Soup Kitchen.

After collecting food and cash donations, paramedics deliver these items to the Soup Kitchen on James street. The Soup Kitchen sees a significant rise in demand during the winter months, which makes it a perfect time to help them prepare for the high demand ahead.

In 2012, paramedics held their first 'Helping the Hungry' food drive and the tradition has carried on since then. To date, over 13,000 lbs. of food has been collected from the food drives and over $22,000 has been raised.
