Open-Air Burning

Planning a small fire? View the proper procedure to renew or arrange for a new burning permit.

Planning a small fire? The Ontario Fire Code requires that all open-air burning must be approved by Fire Services.

To renew or arrange for a new burning permit online, visit saultstemarie.ca/BurnPermits.

All new permits obtained online will be subject to an onsite inspection prior to approval and activation.

Open-air burning permits can also be obtained or renewed, by calling Fire Services at 705-949-9898 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
