Easter weekend holiday schedule for City facilities and services

There will be service interruptions during the Easter holiday period.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie reminds citizens of the following service interruptions during the Easter holiday period – Good Friday (April 10) through Easter Monday (April 13):

Garbage and Recycling Collection

There is no garbage or recycling pickup on Good Friday (April 10). Friday’s garbage and recycling collection will be on Saturday, April 11.

There is also no garbage and recycling collection on Easter Monday (April 13). Collection April 14 to April 18 will be one day late.

The City’s landfill will be closed on Good Friday (April 10) and Easter Monday (April 13).

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the landfill will be closed on Saturdays until further notice. The landfill is open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for essential service only. This includes any garbage causing odours or rodent issues. Only two people per vehicle and children are not allowed. Expect delays as security will be strictly enforcing physical distancing and health and safety measures.

Transit Service

Transit and Parabus will not operate Good Friday (April 10). The essential service weekend schedule for transit and Parabus will operate Saturday, April 11 and Easter Sunday (April 12). Essential service hour schedule resumes Easter Monday (April 13). A reminder to customers that Transit Services is limiting the amount of passengers to 10 – 12 riders per bus to ensure it continues to provide physical distancing as needed. The City reminds citizens that although the Easter weekend is here, under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, the government of Ontario’s ban on gatherings of more than five people is still in effect. Everyone must stay home except for essential reasons, practice physical distancing of at least two metres apart from others at all times and avoid close contact with those outside of your immediate family.

All returning international travellers must stay in their home for 14 days. If you have travelled to Canada or Ontario communities outside of Algoma, especially to places where COVID-19 is spreading locally, you must stay home for 14 days.
