Downtown Plaza Public Workshop

The purpose of the workshops are to develop a refined plan for a Civic Plaza in the downtown core. The Plaza will be a four-season destination full of exciting activities for all ages and ability levels.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie will host two virtual public workshops on October 1, 2020 scheduled to begin at noon and at 7 p.m. The purpose of the workshops are to develop a refined plan for a Civic Plaza in the downtown core. The Plaza will be a four-season destination full of exciting activities for all ages and ability levels.

Representatives from the City of Sault Ste. Marie and from the urban design firm Brook Mcllroy will facilitate the call. Participants will have the opportunity to provide recommendations about the concept and design.
 
“The detailed design and implementation of a Public Plaza in downtown Sault Ste. Marie presents a unique opportunity to create a vital community hub,” said Tom Vair, Deputy CAO, Community Development and Enterprise Services. “The Plaza design process will build on growing awareness in the community of the importance of activity-based destinations in the downtown. We look forward to discussing this exciting initiative with the community.”
 
Additional ways to provide feedback include visiting the Downtown Plaza website where participants can view the concept plan and submit recommendations by completing the online survey.
