Convenient voting options available for 2018 Election

Voting Day to elect a Mayor, City Councillors and school board trustees is Monday, October 22, 2018. The City of Sault Ste. Marie is pleased to provide a number of convenient voting options.

Advance Polls

Advance voting is available at the Civic Centre located at 99 Foster Drive on the following dates:

Saturday, October 6
10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Wednesday, October 10
10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday, October 13
10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Voters requiring extra assistance are encouraged to take advantage of the enhanced accessibility provided on Advance Vote Days.

Voting from Home

If there are barriers preventing you from voting at an Advance Vote day or on Voting Day (October 22), you may apply for a home visit to cast your ballot. To apply complete the Home Visit Voter Application at saultstemarie.ca/votefromhome or call the City Clerk's Department at 705-759-5388 to register. Voters must pre-register by October 11. The Voting from Home program will occur during the week of October 15.

Curbside Voting

For those voters unable to go inside the voting place without unreasonable difficulty, we offer curbside voting. An election official will bring a ballot box to your vehicle.

Proxy Voting

If you will be unable to get to a voting place to cast your ballot on October 22, 2018, or on any of the Advance Vote days, you may wish to appoint a proxy. A proxy is someone that can go to the voting place and cast a ballot on your behalf. This person must be an eligible elector and should be someone you trust to mark the ballot the way you have instructed them to. You and the person you want to appoint must complete an Appointment for Voting Proxy Form - Form 3 (English Form / French Form) and return it to the Clerks' office to be sworn.

Voting on Election Day

On Voting Day, October 22, electors will vote at their assigned voting location. Voters will receive a Voter Information Card indicating where to vote. Alternatively, electors can find their voting location at saultstemarie.ca/election under 'Voter Services'.

Voters are encouraged to visit saultstemarie.ca/election for general information. Voters are required to show identification with your name and address for all voting options.
