Are You Ready? - Emergency Preparedness Week

As demonstrated by the unfortunate flooding throughout Ontario this spring, emergencies can happen anywhere signaling an importance for families and individuals to plan and be prepared.

 May 5–11, is Emergency Preparedness Week in Ontario and the theme is “Are You Ready?” Would you be ready if you received an emergency alert today? Emergency Preparedness Week encourages residents to take action to be better prepared to protect yourself and your family during an emergency. Preparing for an emergency includes having a family communication plan, having an emergency kit and knowing the potential risks that could happen in Sault Ste. Marie and how you and your family can stay safe.

To learn more about being prepared, visit the Emergency Preparedness Showcase on Saturday, May 11 at Walmart Great Northern Road from 10-2 p.m. This family friendly event is a great opportunity to meet with local emergency response teams, view demonstrations of emergency equipment and be entered into a draw to win a 72-hr emergency kits.
