Woman claims child inside someone else's vehicle was hers, strikes officer: Sault Police

Police say the accused has been charged with criminal harassment and assaulting a peace officer

A woman has been arrested after allegedly attempting to open the door of a vehicle, claiming the child inside was hers, Sault Police say.

Police report on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., the accused approached a woman and her child in a vehicle in the 100 block of Hugill St. Police say the accused attempted to open the door, claiming the child was hers.

According to police, the victim was able to leave the area and notify police.

When police located the accused, it is alleged she resisted and struck an officer.

As a result, Angel Crawford, 28, has been charged with criminal harassment and assaulting a peace officer.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 11, 2021.
