Woman arrested for driving while disqualified

On Feb. 20 2018 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 49-year-old Karen Lapointe of Peoples Road for driving while disqualified.

At 2:45 p.m. officers were operating the Automated License Plate Recognition System (ALPR) on Peoples Road near Second Line West. The system directed the officer’s attention to a vehicle that was registered to a female that was a disqualified driver.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and confirmed that the driver was the registered owner of the vehicle and that she was a disqualified driver. She was arrested and charged with one count of operating a motor vehicle when she was disqualified.  She will appear in court on March 26, 2018.
