Woman arrested for cashing cheques that weren't hers

On April 11, 2019, officers with the Court Services division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 25-year-old Kayla Skunk of Sault Ste. Marie for possession of stolen property. 

It’s alleged on Sept. 9, 2018 the accused stole cheques from a vehicle parked in a lot of a business in the 600-block of Queen Street East. It’s further alleged the accused cashed a cheque for approximately $374 at a local business on Oct. 17, 2018. 

The accused was located at the court house on April 11, 2019 and charged with one count of possession of stolen property and one count of uttering a forged document. She is scheduled to appear in court on May 27, 2019.
