A 41-year-old woman who allegedly hit a store employee with a snow brush last month has been slapped with additional charges.

Sault police say the incident occurred at a business in the 200 block of Wellington Street West on May 13.

Dispatched to the scene, officers discovered that a person “assaulted an employee with a snow brush and stole from the business,” according to a news release from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The victim suffered minor injuries.”

A suspect was arrested, charged with robbery and transferred to the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre (ATRC). On Wednesday afternoon, officers attended the centre to lay two more charges in connection with the incident: assault with a weapon and theft.

Shannon Boyer, 41, is awaiting a bail hearing on the new charges. None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
