Wellington West Esso, formerly Wardlaw Fuels located on Wellington Street West near John Street, was robbed at 7:29 a.m. today, says Sergeant Dave Baskcomb of Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

A male wearing a disguise and brandishing a large knife entered the store and demanded cash, he said.

The perpetrator is described as a thin, Caucasian male wearing a gray sweater black jogging pants, running shoes and a blue backpack.

He was seen leaving on foot toward the bushes near John Street.

At this point, it is unknown what was taken, said Baskcomb.

The canine unit and numerous cars investigated the area but were unable to locate a suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
