At 2:48 this morning, a 1991 red Pontiac was eastbound on Bay Street when the driver lost control on the curve onto Pim Street and plowed into the guardrails. The driver then left the scene but was located a few blocks away by patrol officers.

The driver then left the scene but was located a few blocks away by patrol officers. Kevin Van Landeghem, age 23, of Venn Street has been charged with impaired driving.

The city police RIDE unit was out last night and early this morning. 383 vehicles were checked and 4 roadside tests conducted. One person was charged with failing to provide a sample. William McBurney, age 62, of Forest Avenue will appear in court in Jan 21.

At 8:30 last night a male was in the J.D. Variety on Korah Road and bought some candy. When the clerk opened the cash register, the male reached in, grabbed a handful of cash, and fled the store. He is described as being 5'7" in height, thin build, and wearing a toque and a scarf and over his mouth. He was also carrying a backpack. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. The investigation is continuing.
