A heavy police presence has been reported in the area of Wellington Street West and John Street near Wardlaw Fuels.
Lincoln Louttit, corporate communications manager with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, told SooToday that just before noon today, officers responded to a weapons call in the 200 block of Wellington Street West.
Louttit confirmed that one person was transported to hospital. The extent of the victim's injuries is unknown at this time.
Officers remain at the scene and the public is asked to avoid the area in order to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
