Vehicle rollover leads to impaired driving charges

A driver faces impaired driving charges after officers responded to the area of Great Northern Road and Sixth Line for a vehicle rollover early Saturday morning.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service state in a news release that 24-year-old Mikhaila Williamson was arrested after her vehicle was discovered in a ditch at approximately 1:30 a.m.

Full text of the release follows:

On May 21, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 24-year-old Mikhaila Williamson with operation while impaired – alcohol and/or drug.

Around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to motor vehicle collision near the intersection of Great Northern Road and Sixth Line. Upon arrival, officers observed a car rolled over in a ditch and EMS providing medical attention to the driver of the vehicle who was the lone occupant in the vehicle.

Upon speaking with the accused officers developed grounds to believe her ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by alcohol. She provided a breath sample into an approved device, registering a failure result. She was arrested, and later provided breath samples into an approved device, registering two fail results.

She is charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired – alcohol and/or drug
    •    Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80+)

She was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court ton July 18, 2022.
