On March 13, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 58-year-old Kimberly-Marie Atherton-Johnston for impaired driving.

On March 13, 2019 officers observed a vehicle on Laurier Avenue up on a snow bank with the engine running. They approached the vehicle and observed the accused sleeping behind the wheel.

When officers woke her up, they detected a strong smell of alcohol and she was unstable on her feet once exiting the vehicle.

At that time officers determined her ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. She was arrested and failed a subsequent blood alcohol test conducted at the Police Station.

She is charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consuming over the legal limit. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 15, 2019.
