Two women charged in relation to multiple robbery investigations

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Break and Enter Unit are continuing multiple robbery investigations. At this time, 29-year-old Melissa Favaro of Hudson Street and 30-year-old Vanessa Wier of Constellation Place have been arrested for robbery.

It is alleged that just before midnight on Dec. 27, 2017, both accused females attended a business in the 100 block of Northern Avenue. Vanessa Weir entered the business first. 

Once it was clear, Melissa Favaro and another female entered the business wearing masks and armed with a knife. They demanded and received an amount of cash from the employee and then fled the area.

On Dec. 28, 2017 just before 3 a.m., (it is alleged) the three then attended a business in the 600 block of Wellington Street West. Vanessa Weir entered the business first.

Once it was clear, Melissa Favaro and another female entered the business wearing masks and armed with a knife. They demanded and received an amount of cash from the employee and then fled the area.

Later, on Dec. 28, 2017 just after 5 a.m. Melissa Favaro attended a business in the 1200 block of Wellington Street East in the company of another female. Both were armed with a knife and wearing masks. The accused again demanded and received cash from the employee and fled the area.

On Dec. 29, 2017 officers located Vanessa Wier and she was taken into custody. She has been charged with two counts of robbery and will appear in court on Feb. 5, 2018.

On Jan. 2, 2018 officers located Melissa Favaro and she was taken into custody. She has been charged with three counts of robbery and three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. She held for bail court.
