Two injured in Second Line West assault incident: Police

28-year-old faces robbery, assault charges as a result

Police have arrested Tyler Wynne following an incident that occurred at a business on Second Line West last Thursday evening.

A news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service alleges that the 28-year-old accused was involved in an assault incident that resulted in two victims sustaining non life-threatening injuries.  

Full text of the release follows:

On Nov. 25, 2021, officers with Patrol Services charged 28-year-old Tyler Wynne with robbery.

[It is alleged that] around 8:20 p.m., the accused and two others attended a business in the 600 block of Second Line West. While at the business, an altercation ensued as the accused threatened to harm the victims, stole a tip jar from the business, and threw food at the two victims.

The three exited the business and the two victims followed them outside. One victim was assaulted with a shovel and what is believed to be a 2x4. The other victim was also assaulted with the 2x4 piece of wood. The three fled the area. Both victims sustained non life-threatening injuries.

Officers responded and were able to identify the accused. He was located around 9:08 p.m. at a residence in the 600 block of Second Line West.

He is charged with:
    •    robbery
    •    assault with a weapon x2
    •    assault causing bodily harm
    •    breach of probation for failing to keep the peace and be of good behaviours x2

He was held for bail court.

The investigation is ongoing. Officers are currently attempting to identify the two other people involved in the incident.
