Two face theft charges in unrelated incidents

On May 25, 2019, officers with the Patrol Services unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 33-year-old Marc Major of Albert Street East for theft under $5,000.

It’s alleged on May 25, 2019, the accused attended a store in the 200 block of Bay Street selected a bag, removed the tag from the bag, then proceeded to place other items inside of it. He then left the store without attempting to pay for the approximately $416 worth of items. 

He was stopped by store security and held for police. Officers arrived and took him into custody. He is charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of breach of probation and one count of fail to appear for fingerprints. He was held for bail court.

On May 26, 2019, officers with the Patrol Services unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 40-year-old Cindy Morissette of Dennis Street for theft under $5,000. 

It’s alleged on May 26, 2019 the accused attended a store in the 200 block of Northern Avenue selected approximately $180 worth of items from the shelves and left without attempting to pay for them. 

The accused was apprehended by store security and held for police. Police arrived on scene and took the accused into custody. She is charged with one count of theft under $5,000. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 8, 2019.
