Two face slew of firearm and drug charges

On Mar. 1, 2018 officers with the Crime Suppression Unit, Drug Enforcement Unit, Break and Enter Unit and Emergency Services Unit arrested 27-year-old Andre Cormier of no fixed address and 24-year-old Reid Antoniow of Malabar Drive for firearm and drug offences.

As a result of an investigation, officers conducted a traffic stop at approximately 9:25 p.m. in the area of Chippewa Street. Mr. Antoniow was the driver of the vehicle and Mr. Cormier was the passenger. Officers observed a handgun on the floor of the vehicle and both males were taken into custody.

Officers then searched the vehicle and found the firearm was a 9mm semi-automatic handgun with 8 rounds of ammunition loaded into the magazine. 

The firearm was seized along with 13.8 grams of fentanyl, 26.6 grams of methamphetamine and a large quantity of cash. The estimated street value of the narcotics seized is $12,810.

Both males have been charged with;

  • 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking,
  • 2 counts of careless storage of a firearm and ammunition,
  • One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm,
  • One count of possession of a firearm while knowing it is unauthorized,
  • One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and;
  • One count of possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition

Mr. Cormier has also been charged with 2 counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition in contravention of a court order and one count of breach of recognizance. 

Mr. Antoniow has also been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance. Both males were held for bail court.
