Two accused of using bear mace, discharging firearm on Gore Street: police

The 27 and 29-year-old face multiple charges as a result

Two face weapons charges after an incident that occurred early this morning, Sault Ste. Marie Police said in a news release issued today. 

Police say they responded to a call around 3:13 a.m. this morning after it is alleged that the pair approached two people in the 100 block of Gore Street and sprayed bear mace at them. 

While fleeing to a local residence, one of the victims dropped a cell phone, which the accused picked up.

It is further alleged that the accused then went to the residence where they pointed and shot a firearm through one of the windows, causing damage to the window.  

After investigating, police located 27-year-old Alexandra Bright and 29-year-old Paul Quesnel, and as a result, the pair were arrested and face multiple weapons charges.

On April 14, 2021 officers with Patrol Services and Investigation Services charged 27-year-old Alexandra Bright and 29-year-old Paul Quesnel with weapon offences.

It’s alleged around 3 a.m. the two accused approached two victims in the 100 block of Gore Street, threatened them and sprayed mace at them. The victims were able to leave the area and get into a residence. While leaving the area one of the victims dropped a cell phone and the accused took it. It is further alleged the accused went to the residence, pointed a firearm at a window and shot the firearm at the window, causing damage to the window.

Police were called at 3:13 a.m. and attended a short time later.

An investigation began and officers determined the two accused were inside a residence in the area.

Alexandra Bright was arrested at 9:27 a.m. and Paul Quesnel was arrested at 10:27 a.m.

Alexandra Bright is charged with: 

  • Administering a Noxious Substance x2 
  • Assault with a Weapon x2 
  • Uttering Threats x2 
  • Weapons Dangerous x2 
  • Pointing a Firearm x2 
  • Use of Firearm or Imitation Firearm in Commission of an Offence x2 
  • Discharge a Firearm with Intent 
  • Mischief Under $5,000; and 
  • Possession of a Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order x2

She was held for bail court.

Paul Quesnel is charged with: 

  • Administering a Noxious Substance x2 
  • Assault with a Weapon x2 
  • Uttering Threats x2 
  • Theft Under $5,000 
  • Weapons Dangerous x2 
  • Pointing a Firearm x2 
  • Use of Firearm or Imitation Firearm in Commission of an Offence x2 
  • Discharge a Firearm with Intent 
  • Mischief Under $5,000 • Breach of Recognizance x2; and •
  • Possession of a Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order x4

He was held for bail court.
