MAN BARRICADED IN MOTEL - ARRESTED UNDER THE MENTAL HEALTH ACT Police were called to the Downtown Motel on the corner of East and Albert Streets at 7pm last evening. A man had barricaded himself in a room and was making threats.

Police were called to the Downtown Motel on the corner of East and Albert Streets at 7pm last evening. A man had barricaded himself in a room and was making threats. He was in possession of a handgun. Members of the Emergency Services Unit, Investigation Unit, and Patrol Services were called to the scene to assist. Two negotiators were successful in talking the individual out of the motel room where he was arrested at 12:45 this morning. A 35-year-old male was transported to the hospital where he was admitted to the Riverview Centre. The investigation is continuing.
