CAR STRIKES PEDESTRIAN
A Sault resident, Maria Rumpler, age 66, of Ormye Avenue is listed in serious but stable condition following a car-pedestrian accident yesterday. Mrs. Rumpler is suffering a neck injury and has been transferred to a hospital in Toronto for treatment.

Mrs. Rumpler had been attempting to cross eastbound on Great Northern Road just south of the intersection at Willoughby when she was struck by a 1996 Dodge operated by Robert Catling, age 30, of Estelle Street. Mr. Catling had attempted to turn south from Willoughby onto Great Northern Road. The car hit Mrs. Rumpler in the turning lane. No charges have been laid.

CAR HITS TRAIN
At 3:55 this morning, a car hit a train at the crossing on lower McNabb Street. An eastbound vehicle collided with a rail tanker car that was being moved into the tank farm for offloading of its gasoline cargo. The tanker car's drain was jammed into the vehicle's engine compartment making removal a tricky operation. It was completed successfully, howev
