Traffic stop locates stolen vehicle

Officers located several break in tools in the possession of the accused and he was taken into custody

On Feb. 11, 2018 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 37-year-old Chard Guerin of Pilgrim Street for theft.

It is alleged that around 1:30 a.m., the accused caused damage to a lock box and stole a motor vehicle from a business in the 100 block of Great Northern Road.  Officers located the accused driving the motor vehicle on Chapple Avenue around 9:30 p.m. and conducted a traffic stop.

At that time, officers located several break in tools in the possession of the accused and he was taken into custody. He has been charged with one count of mischief, one count of theft over $5,000, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of possession of break in tools. He will appear in court on March 19, 2018.
