Traffic stop leads to drug trafficking, weapons charges for Sault man

Police report they found suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, percocet pills, and fentanyl

On Sept. 8, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 24-year-old William Elie of Queen Street West for possession for the purpose of trafficking. 

On the morning of Sept. 8, 2019 police identified a vehicle with an unattached plate. Officers conducted a traffic stop. The accused was driving and it was determined he is a suspended driver. 

He was taken into custody and a search of his person was conducted. Police found the accused to be in the possession of approximately eight grams of methamphetamine, four (4) grams of cocaine, 15 percocet pills and a small amount of green powder believed to be fentanyl. 

Officers then conducted a search of the accused’s vehicle and found packaging material, a scale, a can of mace and a stolen watch. The accused is charged with the following; 

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking x4
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Breach of probation

He was held for bail court.
