(Updated 2:50pm, Thur June 27) FATAL ACCIDENT
On June 26, shortly before 1:00 a.m., the Sault Fire Service was at the 400 block of Douglas Street to attend to a downed hydro wire. The Fire Service pumper truck was positioned on Douglas Street facing west with its emergency lights on.

The victim, Sharon Davey, age 58, approached the fire truck and questioned the driver. After speaking briefly, she then walked towards the south sidewalk on Douglas. Ms. Davey then approached the fire truck a second time and had another conversation with the driver. As she returned to the south sidewalk for the second time, she was struck by an eastbound pick-up truck.

The pick-up driver, Ronald Luocks, age 56, of Hare Street, was unable to see the victim until she had stepped into the path of his vehicle. Ms. Davey was given first aid by fire service personnel and was transported to hospital by ambulance where she died as a result of her injuries.
