SAULT STE. MARIE POLICE SERVICE

On March 4, 2019, officers with the Break and Enter and Emergency Service Units of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 47-year-old Brent Simpson and 24-year-old Amber Vincent, both of Third Avenue, for a number of charges including robbery with a firearm and being in possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
On April 16, 2019 officers with the Break and Enter, Canine, Patrol Services and Investigation Services arrested 43-year-old John Dave Jamieson of no fixed address for robbery with a firearm.
It’s alleged on March 2, 2019, the three accused attended a residence in the 300-block of Albert Street West where Mr. Simpson pointed a gun at the victim, struck him with the weapon and demanded he follow them to a vehicle. A short time later the victim and the three accused returned to the residence and it’s alleged a television valued at roughly $650 was taken.
After a collaborative investigation conducted by the Break and Enter, Crime Suppression and Patrol Services Units, Mr. Simpson and Ms. Vincent were located and taken into custody. At the time of arrest both of the accused were found in possession of varying quantities of illicit drugs, including fentanyl powder, crystal methamphetamine and cannabis hashish. Both of the accused were also found in possession of an unauthorized weapon.
The third accused, Mr. Jamieson was located after a collaborative investigation between the Break and Enter, Patrol Services, Canine and Investigation services division and taken into custody on April 16, 2019.
Brent Simpson is charged with the following;
- Robbery with a firearm
- Pointing a firearm
- Kidnapping with a firearm
- Unlawfully in a dwelling
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of an unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm/ammunition
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Using imitation firearm
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of a controlled substance x2
Amber Vincent is charged with the following;
- Robbery with a firearm
- Pointing a firearm
- Kidnapping with a firearm
- Unlawfully in a dwelling
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of an unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm/ammunition
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Using imitation firearm
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of a controlled substance x2
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon
John 'Dave' Jamieson is charged with the following;
- Robbery with a firearm
- Pointing a firearm
- Kidnapping with a firearm
- Unlawfully in a dwelling
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of firearm/ammunition
- Assault with a weapon
All three of the accused are in police custody.
