Thessalon driver caught with suspended licence

The accused's vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver's licence was seized

THESSALON  – On March 3, 2020, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol duties in the Town of Thessalon.   

Shortly after 3:00 a.m., police observed a van on Walker Road pulling away from a parked position. The van then exited Walker Road and continued northbound on Government Road where a traffic stop was initiated. A query of the male's driver's licence revealed he was suspended.  

The van was impounded for seven days and the driver's licence was seized.  

As a result of the investigation, Travis SIMONS, 41 years-of-age from Thessalon, Ontario, was charged with: 

  • Driving While Suspended contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.  

The accused is schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on June 10, 2020.
