Sault Ste. Marie Police say they've laid an impaired charge after an incident that took place earlier this week.

In a release issued today, police say they conducted a traffic stop around 1:14 a.m. Wednesday morning after observing a vehicle swerving in and out of the oncoming lane on Pine Street.

While speaking to the driver, police say they smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle and the accused.

After deducing that he was impaired, the accused was arrested and later refused to take breathalyzer test.

As a result, Arpit Narula, 21, was arrested and charged  with impaired driving – alcohol and drugs and failure or refusal to comply with a demand.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 7, 2020.
