Suspected fentanyl, cocaine seized during break and enter arrest

Police have arrested John Reedy in relation to a break and enter investigation that took place on Dec. 4 on Elgin Street.

A news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service alleges that the 44-year-old accused was in possession of suspected green fentanyl and cocaine at the time of his arrest.

Full text of the release follows:

On Dec. 4, 2021 officers with Patrol Services charged 44-year-old John Reedy with break and enter.

[It is alleged that] around 3:30 a.m., the accused entered a residence in the 100 block of Elgin Street. Upon entering the residence, the accused was confronted by a resident and fled the area. Police were notified and were able to locate the accused a short time later in the 300 block of Albert Street East.

Through the investigation officers determined the accused had entered the residence and he was arrested. A subsequent search of the accused found him to be in possession of a quantity of a substance believed to be green fentanyl and a substance believed to be cocaine.

He is charged with:
    •    break and enter
    •    possession of a controlled substance x2
    •    breach of an undertaking - possession of a substance believed to be cocaine
    •    breach of probation - failing to keep the peace and be of good behaviour

He was held for WASH court.
