Store security apprehends theft suspect

48-year-old accused of stealing $479 worth of power tools

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service reports that Scott Erdman was arrested following an incident at a McNabb Street business Tuesday afternoon.

Police allege that at 3:30 p.m. Erdman selected $479 worth of power tools and attempted to exit the store without paying.

The release states that store security was able to apprehend and hold the accused for police arrival after he attempted to flee the area and resist arrest.

The 48-year-old stands charged with theft under $5,000 and resisting arrest, and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 30.
