Staff member threatened with knife. Police seek attempted robbery suspect

Officers with the Break and Enter Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a suspect in an armed robbery attempt on Jan. 10, 2018.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., a lone male entered a business in the 100 block Queen Street East armed with a knife and wearing a ski mask. The suspect walked behind the counter threatened the staff member with the knife.

The male exited the front door of the business and got into a black SUV.  As the suspect was fleeing the area, the windshield of the vehicle was struck causing heavy damage to it.

The suspect is described as Caucasian male with darker skin and a medium build. He is approximately 6'2" tall and was wearing a black ski mask and a hood over his head, a black jacket with white stripes on the arms and green pants.

No one was injured during the incident and nothing was taken.
