Shoppers watch as vehicle goes up curb, runs into mall wall

Shoppers were lined up nearby

Sault Ste. Marie Police have confirmed that a car went over the curb at the Cambrian Mall around 12 p.m. today, striking the building.

Photos sent to SooToday by a witness who was lined up outside near the crash scene show a black car resting over the sidewalk outside of Shoppers Drug Mart, having struck down an accessible parking spot sign.

Sault police say that the vehicle went over the curb, striking the building, causing minor damage to both the vehicle and the building.

A Sault EMS ambulance was on the scene, but Sault Ste. Marie Police Services spokesperson Lincoln Louttit told SooToday that no one sustained physical injuries.

No charges have been laid.

This marks the second time since May that a car has gone up the curb in this spot. On May 12, police confirmed that a 73-year-old man was struck outside of the BMO at the Cambrian Mall when a vehicle went up the curb.
