Second male faces charges in copper theft investigation

On July 18, 2017, officers with the Investigations Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 27-year-old Brodie Barnes of no fixed address with regards to a break and enter investigation. 

It is alleged that on June 28, the accused entered a building in the 1500 block of Leigh’s Bay Road with a co-accused and stole over 500 pounds of copper. 

Mr. Barnes was arrested by officers at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services building on July 18. 

He has been charged with one count of break and enter, one count of possession of stolen property, one count of possession of break in instruments and one count of breach of probation. 

He will appear in court on Aug. 21, 2017.
