Officers assist with three recent IMET calls

Sault officers and the Community Mobilization Unit assisted three IMET calls between May 4 and May 5.

On May 4, officers removed an abandoned motor home and vehicle from a residence at 321 Albert St. E. 

On May 5, at around 10 a.m., officers attended a residence at 413 Northern Ave., as the homeowner refused to allow city by-law officers to clean up garbage and debris from the property. 

The same day, at around 2 p.m., officers attended a residence at 14 Grace St. while someone was trying to stop a contractor from removing property from the area.

So far in 2022, Sault Police have been engaged in five Integrated Municipal Enforcement Team (IMET) calls.

On May 4 and May 5, 2022, officers with the Community Mobilization Unit assisted in three IMET calls.

On May 4, 2022, officers attended a residence at 321 Albert St. E. to assist in the removal of an abandoned motor home and vehicle. The vehicles were removed without incident.

On May 5, 2022 around 10 a.m., officers attended a residence at 413 Northern Ave. at the request of city by-law officers as the homeowner was refusing to allow them to clean up garbage and debris from the property. By-law officers did have the authority for the removal. Officers attended to keep the peace and the clean-up was completed without incident.

On May 5, 2022 around 2 p.m., officers attended a residence at 14 Grace St. at the request of city by-law as someone was attempting to stop a contractor from removing the property from the area. Officers attended to keep the peace and staff were able to remove a camper and debris from the yard without incident.

To date in 2022, Sault Police have been involved in five Integrated Municipal Enforcement Team (IMET) related calls. 

IMET is a partnership with Sault Police, Sault Fire Services, City of Sault Ste. Marie Building and By-Law, other local enforcement agencies, as well as Housing Services division of the District Social Services Administration Boards. The enforcement-oriented team brings together all agencies with enforcement mandates, with the support of other partner agencies, to develop action plans to address a variety of community issues and concerns.
