Sault Police, Circle K partner up to help protect victims of crime

The Safe Place Program will be implemented at all nine local Circle K locations

A new partnership between the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Circle K hopes to provide safe places for victims of crime.

The Safe Place Program encourages victims of crime and any community members in need of police assistance to report incidents at designated businesses displaying the 'Safe Place' decal. All nine local Circle K stores will have one featured in the front window.

Circle K is providing training to all employees so that they can help people in a time of need and notify police.

In a press release issued today, Sault Police said "for the initiative to be a success, the community must believe and trust that it will work."

The release says Sault Police are looking for other local businesses and agencies interested in joining the Safe Place Initiative.
