Sault Police check 285 vehicles, lay no charges during weekend RIDE program

During a three week traffic initiative, 150 vehicles were checked

Over a three week period, Sault Ste. Marie Police conducted traffic enforcement around the city, focusing on areas of interest such as Peoples Rd., Black Rd., and Fifth Line.

Police say locations were chosen based on concerns raised by community members.

Between Oct. 13 and Nov. 5, police report checking 150 vehicles and issuing 101 provincial offence notices, including 93 speeding tickets.

Police say 160 warnings were also issued.

This past Saturday, officers also checked 285 vehicles during a RIDE program. No charges or tickets were issued.
