Sault police arrest two wanted for Midland attempt murder

Arrest Warrant for Executed by Sault Ste. Marie Police Service 

Arrest warrants for John Lavechia and Michelle Tavenor was executed by members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 6 p.m. Oct. 26, 2019, without incident.

The pair will appear before bail court in Barrie on Monday Oct. 28, 2019, charged with Attempt Murder and numerous other criminal code offences in relation to the Oct. 19, 2019, incident in the Town of Midland.

Oct. 25 release

OPP investigators have identified two persons and hold Criminal Code of Canada warrants for their arrest in relation to the Oct. 19, 2019 incident.

John Lavechia, 38 years of Tay Township, and Michelle Tavenor, 38 years of Midland, are both wanted on charges on attempt murder and numerous other Criminal Code of Canada offences in relation to this investigation.

Both persons have connections to the Tay Township area and police do not believe the accused persons to be a danger to the public, however, police do urge the public to not approach them if they are located and to call 911.

Oct. 19 release

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a serious assault that occurred in a Princess Street residence in the town of Midland on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019.

One victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating a vehicle that was taken from the scene. The vehicle is described as a grey 2011 Ford Escape with Ontario plate CKAC 241. If You observe this vehicle please do not approach and contact Southern Georgian Bay OPP by calling 888-310-1122. If you wish to remain anonymous you can call crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Police investigation is ongoing. This is believed to be an isolated incident. Further information may be released if it comes available.
