SAULT STE. MARIE POLICE SERVICE

On June 22, 2018 officers with the Patrol Services Division of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 45-year-old Lawrence Gatza of Chapple Avenue for assault.
It is alleged that the accused engaged in a physical altercation with three males that were known to him. The accused assaulted the three males by punching them. The accused also threw a knife at one of the victims.
Officers located the accused a short time later and he was taken into custody. While being arrested, the accused assaulted an officer by kicking him. The accused has been charged with one count of assaulting a police officer, three counts of assault, one count of breach of probation and one count of assault with a weapon. He was held for bail court.
