Sault man accused of trafficking fentanyl

On June 14, 2019, officers with the Drug Enforcement and Crime Suppression Units of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 37-year-old Joseph Elie of Gran Street for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

On June 14, 2019, officers observed the accused on Lake Street and knew him to be wanted on outstanding warrant. Police approached him and took him into custody.

After the arrest, officers conducted a search and found him to be in possession of approximately 14 grams of fentanyl. The drugs seized have an approximate street value of $7,300.

He is charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was held for bail court.
